This is a tricky one, does fat make you fat?
The answer, yes and no! It depends on the type to be honest.
Good fats are essential to a heathly heart, good skin and also your brain. These come from oily fish (salmon) nuts (not salted) and olive oil.
Bad fats the saturated dense animal fat and the devil of bad fat. Trans or hydrogenated fats.
Trans fats are on the decline in processing food due to guidelines but care needs to be taken with foods where the ingredients aren't always visible like fast food etc.
It has been noted that 5g of trans fat per day can increase the risk of heart disease by up to 25%!!!!
So the moral of the story is, always check the label. Remember "low fat" products are sometimes laced with sugar (the amount is dictated by the position in the ingredients list)
So next you are tempted by a low fat product, would be it wise to check the label?
